XBMC – Fix for 100% CPU Utilization

Users of XBMC may notice that their CPU (or one core of your CPU) sits at 100% during idle.  To correct this, go to Settings->Screen->Screen and change “Vertical Blank Sync” to “Always Enabled”.

    Im running XBMC 9.11 r26017
On fully patched Windows XP SP3 installation
    AVG antivirus free edition 9.0.733

    Specs:
    AMD AM2 Sempron 3200+ 1.8GHz
    2GB RAM
    Nvidia 7300 LE

The CPU reaches 100% when playing back mp3 files. With no visulisation and no screen saver.
This happens when \Vertical Blank Sync\ is set to Enabled and also when it is Dissabled.
Music playback becomes broken or choppy.

I have observed CPU usage in task manager and it seems likely that there is a conflict between AVG free 9 and XBMC…

Just an observation. If its of any use.

I still have XBMC installed on my xbox. Runs better on there :)

    I had the same problem.
    My fix was easy though.
I run XBMC through a Linux (Gentoo) system.
It was mis-configured to use the Mesa Open GL libs.
When I switched it to use the NVidia OpengL drivers, everything worked perfectly.
